Apple TV+ lands 9 Writers Guild Award nominations led by Pluribus

Apple TV+ continues its awards season momentum with nine nominations for the 2026 Writers Guild Awards, signaling strong recognition for its original programming. The streaming service secured nominations across drama, comedy, and children's categories, with the political thriller Pluribus emerging as its most recognized series with four nominations.

In the competitive Drama Series category, Pluribus earned a nomination alongside HBO's The White Lotus, Disney+'s Andor, Max's The Pitt, and Apple's own Severance. This marks Pluribus' continued awards success following its recent Golden Globe and Critics Choice nominations, highlighting Apple's growing reputation for sophisticated political dramas.

The Studio, Apple's workplace comedy series, received a Comedy Series nomination against Abbott Elementary (ABC), The Chair Company (Netflix), Hacks (Max), and The Rehearsal (HBO). Both Pluribus and The Studio also earned nominations in the New Series category, competing against The Chair Company, The Pitt, and Task (Amazon Prime).

Pluribus secured two additional nominations in the Episodic Drama category for specific episodes: "Got Milk" and "Charm Offensive." They'll compete against episodes from The Pitt ("7:00 A.M."), Task ("A Still Small Voice"), The Handmaid's Tale ("Execution"), and Forever ("Reunion").

In Episodic Comedy, The Studio's "The Promotion" episode contends against Mo's "A Call from God," The Rehearsal's "Pilot's Code," The Righteous Gemstones' "Prelude," Poker Face's "The Sleazy Georgian," and The Bear's "Worms."

Apple's children's programming also received recognition, with The First Snow of Fraggle Rock nominated in the Children's Episodic, Long Form and Specials category against Goosebumps' "Stay Out of the Basement: Part 1," Percy Jackson and the Olympians' "I Play Dodgeball with Cannibals," and Tab Time's "When We Lose Someone."

The Writers Guild Awards hold particular significance in the industry as they honor the foundational creative work behind television programming. These nominations demonstrate Apple TV+'s continued investment in quality writing across genres since its 2019 launch.
