Citizen has expanded its Terra Force collection with two new solar-powered chronographs: the CA4746-08X and CA4747-05L. Positioned in the mid-tier segment of Citizen's Eco-Drive lineup, these aviation-inspired timepieces combine functional design with solar technology, offering distinctive aesthetics and practical features.

The watches share a substantial 43mm stainless steel case with 22mm lug width, maintaining the robust wrist presence characteristic of pilot watches. Both models feature mineral crystals that prioritize shatter resistance over scratch protection, a practical choice for active use.

The CA4746-08X distinguishes itself with a dark brown dial paired with gold-toned hands, crown, and pushers. This two-tone aesthetic departs from conventional military watch palettes, creating a more distinctive appearance. It comes equipped with a traditional two-piece leather strap secured by a buckle.

In contrast, the CA4747-05L adopts a monochromatic approach with its blue dial and silver-toned hardware. This version uses a single-pass NATO-style leather strap, which adds slight additional height to the watch profile but offers enhanced security.

Both models are powered by Citizen's Caliber B620 Eco-Drive movement. This solar-powered quartz engine converts any light source into energy, storing it in a rechargeable cell that eliminates battery replacements. The movement delivers a 9-month power reserve when fully charged and maintains accuracy within ±15 seconds per month. The chronograph function measures intervals up to 60 minutes with 1/5-second precision.

The aviation inspiration extends beyond aesthetics to functional elements like the tachymeter scale on the internal bezel. Despite their pilot watch styling, both models offer 100 meters of water resistance, making them suitable for swimming and water sports.

Priced at $425 each, these new Terra Force models compete in a segment dominated by brands like Seiko and Casio. When compared to Seiko's Solar Chronographs (typically $350-$500), the Citizen offers comparable solar technology but stands out with its aviation-specific design elements. Against Casio's Edifice solar chronographs, the Terra Force provides more distinctive styling options and a slightly more premium case construction.

These watches target enthusiasts seeking solar-powered convenience combined with chronograph functionality. The CA4746-08X appeals to those preferring distinctive two-tone aesthetics, while the CA4747-05L suits traditionalists favoring monochromatic designs. Both models deliver substantial value at this price point, particularly for buyers prioritizing low-maintenance timekeeping backed by Citizen's reputation for durable solar technology.

Exact availability dates remain unconfirmed, but both models are expected to reach retailers in the coming months. The Terra Force series continues Citizen's commitment to combining practical technology with purposeful design in the accessible mid-range watch segment.
