The 2026 AITO M9 has been spotted on Chinese roads without camouflage, featuring redesigned door handles, a more angular profile, and Huawei's next-gen image-grade LiDAR.

The 2026 AITO M9 has been spotted on public roads without camouflage, revealing significant design and technological updates ahead of its official launch. The updated SUV features redesigned door handles and may support gesture-based door opening. Exterior updates on the side and rear give the vehicle a more angular profile.

According to China's MIIT filings released on March 13, the new model measures 5,285 × 2,026 × 1,845 mm with a 3,125 mm wheelbase, slightly larger than the current version. Powertrain options include both battery electric and extended-range variants. The extended-range version uses a 1.5T engine rated at 118 kW, paired with dual motors rated at 220 kW and 277 kW. The battery electric version retains the same dual-motor configuration.

Huawei previously announced that both the AITO M9 and S800 will debut its next-generation dual-optical-path, image-grade LiDAR system. This advanced sensing technology represents a significant step forward in autonomous driving capabilities for the AITO lineup.

The spotted prototype confirms earlier rumors about the vehicle's design direction, with the more angular styling likely aimed at improving aerodynamics and visual presence. The potential gesture-based door opening feature aligns with the growing trend of touchless interactions in premium vehicles.

While specific launch dates haven't been announced, the appearance of uncamouflaged prototypes suggests the 2026 AITO M9 is in the final stages of development and could debut within the coming months.
