OnePlus is teasing a brand-new entry-level line for India, the N-series, aimed squarely at the under-₹20,000 crowd dominated by Redmi, Realme, and Poco. Both OnePlus India and Amazon India are now building hype for what's rumored to be the OnePlus N6.
OnePlus is about to fill a gap in its India lineup that has been sitting awkwardly empty for a while. The company, along with Amazon India, has started teasing a fresh entry-level family called the OnePlus N-series, and the teaser confirms it will arrive as an Amazon Specials launch.

The teaser image OnePlus posted on X locks in the series name and the "coming soon" messaging, but stops short of naming a specific device. Rumors point to the first phone being the OnePlus N6. If that name holds, it slots in below the existing Nord branding and gives OnePlus a cleaner story to tell shoppers who want the brand without the Nord price tag.
Why a new budget series, when Nord already exists?
This is the obvious question, and the answer comes down to price floors. OnePlus already sells the Nord 6, Nord CE6, and Nord CE6 Lite in India. The Lite is the cheapest of that trio, and even it starts at ₹23,000 for the base 6GB/128GB configuration. That leaves everything under ₹20,000 wide open, and that segment is the most competitive part of the Indian market.
Under ₹20,000 is where Redmi, Realme, and Poco fight hardest, churning out devices with large batteries, high-refresh displays, and aggressive spec sheets. Without an entry in that bracket, OnePlus has been ceding a huge volume of buyers to rivals. The N-series is the answer: a sub-₹20,000 line that competes on value while keeping the Nord family positioned as the step-up choice.
The N6 is expected to come in under that ₹20,000 mark, which means OnePlus will have to make the usual budget trade-offs around chipset, build materials, and camera hardware. The interesting part will be seeing how much of the OnePlus software experience, including OxygenOS and its update commitments, carries down to this tier.
The Amazon Specials angle
Selling through Amazon Specials is not new territory for OnePlus in India. Both the Nord CE6 and Nord CE6 Lite launched the same way, so the N-series simply continues an established distribution partnership. For buyers, Amazon Specials launches typically mean the device is tied to Amazon's platform for sales, bank offers, and exchange deals, which is a sensible fit for a price-sensitive audience that already shops there.

There is also a timing wrinkle worth watching. The N-series is rumored to launch sometime next month, though OnePlus has not officially confirmed a date. Amazon's Prime Day in India often anchors major launches, and a recent press release hints at a mid-July window. Lining up a budget hero with a Prime Day push would be a logical move, but for now none of that is confirmed.
Ecosystem context
For anyone already invested in OnePlus, a cheaper N-series device could serve as a secondary phone or an easy entry point for family members, all running the same OxygenOS environment and benefiting from features like fast charging that OnePlus has built its reputation on. The lock-in here is softer than something like Apple's ecosystem, since these are Android phones, but consistent software and a shared accessory and charging story still nudge buyers toward staying within the brand.
The broader pattern is familiar. Premium-leaning brands keep pushing downmarket to capture volume, and OnePlus reviving an entry-level identity separate from Nord mirrors what we have seen across the industry. The N-series gives OnePlus a brand it can scale aggressively on price without diluting Nord's positioning.
For now, the landing pages on OnePlus India and Amazon India are live but light on detail. Expect that to change quickly as the launch window approaches and OnePlus starts revealing actual specs.
