Tecno's latest Camon 50 Pro 5G offers flagship-level features including a Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset, 6,500mAh battery, and triple camera system at competitive pricing.
Tecno has expanded its Camon 50 series with the new Camon 50 Pro 5G, a smartphone that closely mirrors the recently announced Camon 50 Ultra in both design and specifications. The device represents Tecno's strategy of offering flagship-tier features at more accessible price points, targeting consumers who want premium capabilities without the premium price tag.
The Camon 50 Pro 5G is built around a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, providing smooth scrolling and responsive touch interactions. The display includes a 50MP selfie camera embedded within the screen and an optical fingerprint scanner for secure biometric authentication.
Powering the device is MediaTek's Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. This combination delivers strong performance for gaming, multitasking, and demanding applications while maintaining efficient power consumption.
One of the standout features is the substantial 6,500mAh battery, which supports 45W wired charging. This capacity should provide excellent battery life for heavy users, potentially lasting through two days of typical usage. The inclusion of IP68/IP69K ingress protection adds durability against water and dust, a feature often reserved for higher-end devices.

The camera system follows a familiar triple-lens configuration. The primary camera features a 50MP sensor with a 23mm equivalent focal length, utilizing Sony's LYT700C sensor with a 1/1.56-inch size and optical image stabilization (OIS). This should provide excellent low-light performance and sharp images in various conditions. The telephoto lens offers 3x optical zoom with a 70mm equivalent focal length, also at 50MP resolution, while the ultrawide camera uses an 8MP sensor with a 14mm equivalent focal length and f/2.2 aperture.

The device runs Android 16 with Tecno's HiOS 16 interface, providing the latest software features and security updates. Storage options include 8GB/256GB and 12GB/256GB configurations, with color choices spanning Moonshadow Black, Cypress Green, Nebula Titanium, and Misty Purple.
In terms of pricing, the Camon 50 Pro 5G is positioned competitively in the Indonesian market, with the 8GB/256GB model priced at IDR 5,599,000 ($332) and the 12GB/256GB variant at IDR 6,099,000 ($361). Pre-orders are available with shipping expected to begin on March 26.

Interestingly, Tecno plans to release a nearly identical Camon 50 Ultra model in European markets later this year, with a starting price of €400. This regional strategy allows Tecno to maintain competitive pricing in emerging markets while targeting different consumer segments in developed markets.
The Camon 50 Pro 5G represents Tecno's continued focus on delivering feature-rich smartphones at accessible price points, particularly in markets where the brand has strong presence. By offering specifications that rival flagship devices from major manufacturers, Tecno is positioning itself as a viable alternative for consumers who prioritize value and features over brand prestige.
This approach mirrors broader industry trends where Chinese manufacturers are increasingly competing on specifications and features rather than brand recognition alone. The success of devices like the Camon 50 Pro 5G could influence how other manufacturers approach their mid-range offerings in the coming years.
