Apple's new MacBook Neo comes in four colors: blush, indigo, silver, and citrus. Which one would you choose?
Apple said that it wanted the new MacBook Neo to be seen as a fun new addition to the Mac lineup, and this was reflected in the colors as well as the name. The new machine comes in a choice of four colors, although admittedly these are less vivid in the aluminum than they appear in photos …
Our own Chance Miller was at the launch event and very much liked the new look. The MacBook Neo comes in four colors: blush, indigo, silver, and what Apple calls a "fresh new citrus." My first impressions of those colors is that they are fantastic. Apple gets bonus points for color-matching the keyboards, too. The shade of the colors can vary quite a bit by lighting and angle, similar to the other MacBook colors Apple sells like sky blue.
He wasn't alone in adding that rider indicating that the machines look less colorful in real life than they do when photographed, especially the keyboards. All the same, it's definitely a fun move on Apple's part.
While the decision will have been made long before it was known, the company will no doubt have been encouraged by the popularity of the Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro. We got a bit of a clue into the relative popularity of the colors from shipping dates slipping in pre-orders. The dates indicate that the pink model, which Apple calls blush, is the most popular of the four, while the silver is the least popular. This suggests buyers are embracing the newness of the Neo rather than trying to make it look like a more expensive model.
It's interesting to note from our pre-launch poll that while you are very much in favor of Apple making its products available in more colors, the pastel shades the company opted for was the least popular of the options. Most of you want Apple to be bolder in its color choices.
It'll be interesting to see the shades the company has chosen for the new iMac colors we're expecting later in the year.
If you were choosing between the four colors offered for the MacBook Neo, which would be your favorite? Please take our poll and share your thoughts in the comments.

Which of the four MacBook Neo colors is your favorite?
- Blush
- Indigo
- Silver
- Citrus
The MacBook Neo's color palette represents a strategic shift for Apple, moving away from the more conservative options that have dominated recent Mac designs. The company appears to be testing whether consumers are ready for more playful, personality-driven computing devices.
Color psychology plays a significant role in consumer electronics purchasing decisions. Blush pink often appeals to those seeking a softer, more approachable aesthetic. Indigo suggests sophistication and creativity. Silver remains the safe, classic choice that blends into professional environments. The citrus option—likely a vibrant yellow or orange—targets those wanting to make a bold statement.
What's particularly interesting about Apple's approach is the attention to detail in color-matching the keyboards to the chassis. This creates a cohesive look that many manufacturers overlook, where keyboards often remain black regardless of the device color.
The variation in appearance based on lighting and angle is a common characteristic of anodized aluminum finishes. Apple has refined this process over years of producing colored products, but the inherent properties of the material mean that colors will always appear more subdued than they do in marketing renders.
Pre-order shipping date slippage provides valuable market intelligence. When certain color variants ship later than others, it typically indicates higher demand for those options. The blush model's popularity suggests that consumers are embracing Apple's more colorful direction, while the silver variant's slower sales might indicate that traditional buyers are waiting to see how these new colors age over time.
For those who participated in our pre-launch poll about Apple's color strategy, the results were revealing. While there's strong support for Apple expanding its color offerings beyond the traditional silver, space gray, and gold, many readers expressed a desire for more saturated, bold colors rather than the pastel approach Apple has taken with the Neo.
This feedback creates an interesting tension for Apple's product designers. The company must balance broad market appeal with the desire to stand out, all while maintaining the premium aesthetic that justifies its pricing strategy.
As we look ahead to the rumored new iMac colors, it will be fascinating to see whether Apple takes a bolder approach or continues with the more restrained palette seen on the MacBook Neo. The desktop market might support more adventurous colors since these devices typically remain in a fixed location rather than being carried around daily.
