Overview

Deployment Frequency is a DORA metric that measures the speed and agility of a development team. High-performing teams deploy multiple times per day, while lower-performing teams may deploy only once every few months.

Why it Matters

Frequent deployments allow for faster feedback, smaller (and therefore safer) changes, and a quicker time-to-market for new features.

How to Increase Frequency

  • Automate Everything: Remove manual steps from the pipeline.
  • Trunk-Based Development: Avoid long-lived feature branches.
  • Microservices: Allow teams to deploy their services independently.
