Overview

DORA metrics are the industry standard for measuring DevOps success. They provide a data-driven way to categorize teams as Elite, High, Medium, or Low performers.

The Four Metrics

  1. Deployment Frequency: How often code is released.
  2. Lead Time for Changes: How long it takes code to go from commit to production.
  3. Change Failure Rate: The percentage of deployments that cause issues.
  4. Mean Time to Restore (MTTR): How long it takes to recover from a failure.

Importance

These metrics balance speed (Frequency, Lead Time) with stability (Failure Rate, MTTR), ensuring that teams don't sacrifice quality for velocity.
