FCP is an important, user-centric metric for measuring perceived load speed. It marks the first point in the page load timeline where the user can see anything on the screen, providing feedback that the page is actually loading.
What counts as 'Content'?
- Text.
- Images (including background images).
- Non-white
<canvas>elements. - SVGs.
Targets
- Good: Under 1.8 seconds.
- Needs Improvement: Between 1.8 and 3.0 seconds.
- Poor: Over 3.0 seconds.
