Gas wars occur during periods of extreme network congestion, typically during a highly anticipated NFT mint or a major token launch. Because block space is limited, users must outbid each other to have their transactions included in the next block.
Impact

- Failed Transactions: Users who don't bid high enough may see their transactions fail, but they still lose the gas they spent.
