Ayaneo unveils a vibrant Aura Yellow variant of its Pocket DMG gaming handheld, marking the device's second color refresh in a month while retaining the original Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 hardware.

Ayaneo continues its rapid-fire updates for the Pocket DMG gaming handheld, following December's Bright Silver release with a striking new Aura Yellow edition. This marks the second cosmetic overhaul for the Android-powered device in under 30 days, though both refreshes preserve the core technical specifications of the original Pocket DMG launched nearly two years ago.
The Aura Yellow variant immediately distinguishes itself with its saturated yellow housing and matching shoulder buttons. Ayaneo offsets the bold primary color with vivid red action buttons (X/Y) and system controls (Start/Select), creating a high-contrast aesthetic reminiscent of retro gaming aesthetics.
Underneath this vibrant exterior, the Pocket DMG retains its established hardware configuration:
- Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 processor
- 3.92-inch OLED display (1240 × 1080 resolution, 450 nits peak brightness)
- 6,000 mAh battery
- Hidden circular touchpad surrounding the physical joystick
- Active cooling system
Pricing remains identical to the Bright Silver model introduced last month. The entry-level configuration with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage starts at $339, while the upgraded 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant costs $419. Both options run Android, positioning the Pocket DMG as a dedicated cloud gaming and native Android title machine.

This rapid succession of color variants suggests Ayaneo is extending the lifecycle of its existing Pocket DMG design rather than introducing new hardware. The original model debuted in early 2024 at $499, making the current pricing approximately $80-$160 lower depending on configuration. Performance expectations should align with our previous testing of the Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 platform, which handles Android titles and streaming services smoothly but isn't designed for AAA PC game emulation.
The Pocket DMG targets gamers seeking a dedicated Android handheld with distinctive styling. Its Game Boy-inspired form factor and unconventional color schemes cater specifically to collectors and retro enthusiasts. With no announced internal upgrades, the Aura Yellow edition primarily appeals to buyers who prioritize bold aesthetics or missed earlier color options.
