Honor has officially confirmed battery specifications for its upcoming Magic8 Pro Air smartphone ahead of its January 19 launch, revealing impressive power management achievements in an ultra-thin form factor. The device will house a 5,500mAh battery - notably 10% larger than the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra's cell - while maintaining a remarkably slim 6.1mm profile weighing just 155g.

The breakthrough comes from Honor's implementation of what it claims is "the highest energy density battery ever used in a flagship smartphone" at 917 watt-hours per liter (Wh/l). This high-density solution allows significantly more power storage within the minimal internal space constraints of the ultra-thin design. For context, most flagship smartphones typically operate in the 700-800 Wh/l range, making this a substantial engineering advancement.

Charging capabilities match the impressive capacity, supporting 80W wired charging for rapid power replenishment and 50W wireless charging for cable-free convenience. This combination addresses practical user concerns about battery anxiety in slim devices, where manufacturers often sacrifice capacity for form factor.

Earlier Geekbench listings revealed the Magic8 Pro Air will be powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 9500 chipset paired with 16GB of RAM, positioning it as a performance-oriented device.
