Sony's non-franchise themed DualSense controllers sell out faster than limited editions tied to major game releases, with Germany's PlayStation Direct already depleted of two color variants.

Sony's newly launched Hyperpop DualSense controllers are vanishing from digital shelves at unprecedented speeds in European markets. At PlayStation Direct Germany, only the Rhythm Blue variant remains available for pre-order as of publication, with both Techno Red and Remix Green models completely sold out.
This demand pattern marks a significant departure from typical accessory sales trends. Historically, controllers tied to established franchises like God of War or Spider-Man generate the strongest pre-order momentum. The Hyperpop collection's rapid depletion is particularly noteworthy given its status as an original Sony design without franchise backing.
Inventory varies dramatically by region. While European supplies dwindle, all three color options remain available at Sony's US online store. Third-party retailers including Amazon also currently carry stock, though regional availability differs.
Sony's product strategy suggests potential restocks. Following the 30th Anniversary controller's sellout last year, the company made additional units available months later. However, the matching PS5 console covers ($74.99) will have stricter limitations, confirmed by Sony to be 'quantitatively restricted in select markets' - though currently available at most Direct stores.
The controller's $89.99 MSRP positions it as Sony's seventh color variant outside core black/white offerings. Industry analysts note the Hyperpop line's success may inspire more original designs from PlayStation's accessory division, moving beyond franchise-dependent limited editions.
