The Infinix Note 60 Ultra arrives with Pininfarina design, 200MP camera, 7,000mAh battery, and an extravagant accessory bundle that justifies its 'Ultra' moniker.

The Infinix Note 60 Ultra has arrived at our office, and it's immediately clear this isn't just another smartphone with an inflated name. The device demands attention from the moment you see it, starting with its collaboration with Pininfarina - the legendary Italian design house known for creating some of the world's most beautiful cars over nearly a century.

Unboxing experience that rivals flagship launches

The unboxing alone sets this phone apart from typical mid-range offerings. Infinix has gone all-in with a two-compartment box that feels more like unboxing a premium gadget than a smartphone. One side contains the essentials: a Kevlar-pattern MagPad wireless charger, custom Kevlar MagCase, 100W charger, USB cable, USB-C earbuds, and a tempered glass protector with installation kit.

The other compartment houses what Infinix calls the MagCharge Base - a supercar-inspired charging dock made from zinc alloy with carbon-fibre-imitating plastic. It features a dedicated slot for the MagPad wireless charging puck and cleverly hides the USB cable underneath. When you attach the Note 60 Ultra with its MagSafe-enabled case, it snaps onto the MagPad with satisfying precision. While the whole setup might seem a bit over-the-top, it's undeniably cool and stable - like having a miniature racecar holder for your phone.

Premium design meets practical durability

The phone's design philosophy becomes clear once you hold it. The Torino Black variant we received features a carbon-fibre-esque rear panel that pairs beautifully with the massive Gorilla Glass Victus-covered camera island. Infinix calls this the Uni-Chassis module, and it's a design triumph - very classy and working wonderfully with the overall aesthetic.

Being Infinix, they couldn't resist adding their signature touches: a dot-matrix display and a "Floating taillight" red LED at the bottom of the camera island. These features might seem gimmicky to some, but they add character and actually serve functional purposes for notifications and charging status.

Hardware that punches above its weight

Underneath the premium exterior lies serious hardware. The 6.78-inch AMOLED display delivers 4,500 nits of peak brightness and supports a 144Hz refresh rate - numbers that would be impressive even on flagship devices. The 4nm Dimensity 8400 Ultimate chipset, with its all-big-core Cortex-A725 configuration and 12GB of RAM, ensures smooth performance. A vapor chamber keeps things cool during intensive use.

Power users will appreciate the 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, which supports 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and even 7.5W reverse wired and 5W reverse wireless charging. Bypass charging for gaming means you can charge while playing without generating excess heat - a thoughtful touch for mobile gamers.

Camera system that competes with flagships

The camera setup is where the Note 60 Ultra truly justifies its name. The 200MP main sensor (1/1.4-inch Samsung HPE) with 2x lossless zoom captures incredible detail. The 3.5x periscope zoom features a Samsung JN5 sensor (1/2.76-inch) for quality telephoto shots. An ultra-wide lens with 112° field of view handles landscapes and group shots, while the 32MP front camera supports 4K video recording.

Pricing and availability

While the phone will sell globally, we currently only have Malaysian pricing: MYR 3,000 for the 12GB/512GB model. This converts to approximately $760/€655/£570/₹70,000, positioning it as a premium offering in the mid-range segment.

First impressions matter

The Infinix Note 60 Ultra makes an immediate impact. From the extravagant unboxing to the premium design, impressive specifications, and thoughtful features like bypass charging and the MagCharge ecosystem, this phone feels like it's trying to redefine what consumers expect from the brand. Whether it succeeds in delivering a complete package worth the premium price remains to be seen - stay tuned for our full review.
