Apple has unveiled the iPhone 17e, a $599 entry-level smartphone that significantly upgrades last year's model with MagSafe charging, an A19 processor, and doubled base storage. The new device goes up for pre-order on March 4, 2026, with availability starting March 11.
The iPhone 17e represents a substantial improvement over the iPhone 16e, bringing features previously reserved for Apple's more expensive models to the budget segment. The most notable addition is MagSafe charging support, which delivers 15W wireless charging compared to the 7.5W limit of the previous generation. This upgrade also enables compatibility with Apple's MagSafe accessory ecosystem, including magnetic wallets, battery packs, and other accessories.
Under the hood, the iPhone 17e features Apple's latest A19 processor, the same chip found in the $799 iPhone 17. This upgrade delivers improved performance and efficiency over the A18 chip in the iPhone 16e. Other specifications remain consistent with the previous model, including an aluminum frame, glass back, Ceramic Shield 2 display with 3X improved scratch resistance and reduced glare, and IP68 water resistance. The device supports WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, 5G and 4G LTE networks, NFC, and emergency satellite communications.
