Apple's budget iPhone 17e is rumored to launch as early as February with significant improvements including MagSafe support, a new selfie camera system, and design refinements.
Following last year's introduction of the iPhone 16e, Apple appears poised to refresh its entry-level iPhone with the iPhone 17e in early 2026. Multiple sources indicate this model will bring meaningful upgrades across several areas while maintaining its accessible $599 price point.
A19 Chip Performance Boost
At the core sits Apple's next-generation A19 processor, shifting to TSMC's refined N3P (3nm) manufacturing process. This delivers approximately 5-10% faster CPU performance compared to the iPhone 16e's A18 chip. The efficiency improvements should also contribute to better battery life during everyday tasks like web browsing and video streaming.
Display Refinements
The iPhone 17e reportedly adopts significantly thinner bezels than its predecessor, aligning its design language with the rest of the iPhone 17 series. While retaining the 6.1-inch LCD panel, it won't gain ProMotion or Always-On Display capabilities. The slimmer borders provide a more modern aesthetic without increasing the overall device footprint.
Dynamic Island Adoption
Sources suggest the iPhone 17e will replace the traditional notch with the Dynamic Island interface. This pill-shaped cutout debuted on iPhone 14 Pro models and dynamically expands to show alerts, notifications, and background activities. If accurate, this change would mark the complete elimination of the notch design across Apple's entire iPhone lineup.
Enhanced Front-Facing Camera
A major camera upgrade comes via an all-new 18MP front sensor featuring Center Stage technology.
