Nvidia's latest Game Ready 595.71 driver addresses fan detection bugs but introduces new performance problems for Resident Evil Requiem players, with some reporting significant FPS drops and crashes.

Nvidia has released its Game Ready driver 595.71, intended to fix issues from the previous 595.59 version that caused fan detection problems and performance instability for GeForce GPU users. However, the new driver appears to have introduced fresh complications, particularly for players of the recently launched Resident Evil Requiem.

The 595.59 driver debacle began shortly after Resident Evil Requiem's release, when users reported that the update caused hardware monitoring utilities to fail at detecting all GPU fans, and in some cases, fans would stop spinning entirely after installation. Nvidia quickly pulled the problematic driver and worked on a replacement.

According to Nvidia's official patch notes, driver 595.71 resolves the fan detection issues that plagued 595.59. The update specifically addresses bugs where hardware monitoring utilities couldn't detect all GPU fans and situations where one or more fans would cease spinning after the previous driver installation. These fixes should provide relief to users who experienced hardware monitoring problems with the earlier version.

However, the new driver has failed to resolve performance issues in Resident Evil Requiem, and in some cases, appears to have made them worse. Multiple users have reported significant performance degradation after updating to 595.71.

One RTX 4080 Super owner shared their experience on Reddit, noting that while running driver version 576.88, they achieved approximately 110 FPS in Resident Evil Requiem. After installing 595.71, their frame rate dropped to around 91 FPS. The user also observed a decrease in GPU power draw, falling from roughly 310W to between 260-270W. This power reduction could explain the performance loss, as the GPU appears to be operating at lower power levels despite the game's demands.

Another concerning report came from an RTX 4090 user who encountered crashes when enabling DLSS in Resident Evil Requiem after updating to 595.71. The user reported that the game immediately crashed upon enabling DLSS, but rolling back to an older driver resolved the issue. When they reinstalled 595.71 to verify the problem, they faced the same crash behavior.

On social media platform X, additional users have chimed in with similar complaints. Several reports mention voltage issues and overall poor performance following the 595.71 installation. These widespread reports suggest that the driver may have fundamental compatibility problems with Resident Evil Requiem, particularly when DLSS is enabled.

The timing of these issues is particularly problematic, as Resident Evil Requiem launched only days before the 595.59 driver release. Players eager to experience the new title with optimal performance have instead encountered a frustrating cycle of driver updates that fail to address the core performance problems.

Nvidia's Game Ready drivers are typically designed to optimize performance for newly released games, making this situation especially disappointing for users who expected improved performance in Resident Evil Requiem. Instead, many are finding themselves rolling back to older driver versions to maintain stable gameplay.

This situation highlights the challenges hardware manufacturers face when releasing drivers to coincide with major game launches. The pressure to provide optimized performance can sometimes lead to rushed updates that introduce more problems than they solve.

For now, Resident Evil Requiem players experiencing performance issues with driver 595.71 may want to consider rolling back to a more stable version, such as 576.88, until Nvidia addresses these new problems. The company has not yet acknowledged the specific Resident Evil Requiem performance issues reported by users, focusing instead on the fan detection fixes in their official communications.

As the gaming community continues to report these problems, it remains to be seen whether Nvidia will need to release another emergency driver update to address the Resident Evil Requiem compatibility issues that persist despite the 595.71 release.
