Poco reveals the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 and 9500s will power its upcoming X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max phones
Poco has officially confirmed the chipsets that will power its upcoming X8 Pro series, revealing that the lineup will feature MediaTek's Dimensity 8500 and Dimensity 9500s processors. The announcement came through a post on X (formerly Twitter), where Poco teased the upcoming devices while taking a subtle jab at Samsung's Galaxy S26 lineup.

The Poco X8 Pro series is expected to include two models: the standard Poco X8 Pro and the larger Poco X8 Pro Max. According to Poco's confirmation, the Poco X8 Pro will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset, while the Poco X8 Pro Max will feature the more powerful Dimensity 9500s SoC.
This chipset lineup suggests Poco is positioning the X8 Pro Max as its flagship offering within the series, with the Dimensity 9500s providing premium performance capabilities. The Dimensity 8500 in the standard model indicates a focus on balanced performance and efficiency for the base variant.
Industry sources indicate that the Poco X8 Pro series will be based on the Redmi Turbo 5 series, which launched in China last month. This strategy of rebranding Redmi devices for the Poco lineup has become increasingly common, allowing Poco to leverage Xiaomi's existing hardware development while maintaining its distinct brand identity and marketing approach.
However, rumors suggest there may be some differences between the Redmi Turbo 5 and Poco X8 Pro variants. Notably, the Poco models are rumored to feature smaller battery capacities compared to their Redmi counterparts, potentially as a cost-saving measure or to achieve different form factor goals.
Poco's timing of this chipset confirmation, coming amid teasers for the new lineup and playful comparisons to Samsung's offerings, indicates the company is building momentum for what appears to be a significant product launch in its X series portfolio.

The confirmation of MediaTek Dimensity chipsets also aligns with broader industry trends, as more manufacturers opt for MediaTek's high-performance solutions in their mid-range and upper-mid-range offerings. The Dimensity 9500s, in particular, represents MediaTek's competitive response in the premium chipset segment.
While Poco hasn't announced official launch dates for the X8 Pro series, the chipset confirmation and ongoing teasers suggest the devices could debut in the coming weeks, potentially with regional variations in availability and pricing strategies.
