Capcom's Resident Evil Requiem DLC release date may arrive sooner than expected, with fan favorite Leon Kennedy rumored to take center stage in the first expansion.

Some horror junkies have already completed the roughly 15-hour Resident Evil Requiem campaign. Hoping to build on impressive sales, Capcom reportedly will soon finish developing additional content.

AestheticGamer, aka Dusk Golem, also believes the first Resident Evil Requiem DLC will focus on fan favorite, Leon Kennedy. Could RE9 DLC be months away?

Dusk Golem correctly predicted the presence of the Grace Ashcroft and Leon characters in RE9. In his latest update, he explains why the Resident Evil Requiem DLC release date may be sooner than expected. Originally, the game was slated for a 2025 debut. However, the delay didn't impact the progress of future bonus content.

The leaker didn't narrow down a specific date, but previously expressed confidence in a 2026 arrival. He now speculates that more objectives will accompany the upcoming RE9 amiibos. The functional Nintendo Switch 2 accessories are set to ship on July 30th.

Earlier rumors hinted that Grace's mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, would be the focus of the DLC. Although her fate in the latest Resident Evil game complicates matters, writers could create an alternate timeline. Dusk Golem based the claim on the knowledge that a "fully playable version" of the character exists.

Capcom denied Leon rumors Alyssa may still play a role, but Golem has heard that Leon Kennedy will take center stage. This wouldn't be surprising, considering that he likely convinced some skeptical buyers. Also, it may explain why Director Koshi Nakanishi and other developers dismissed theories that the protagonist would appear in RE9.

It's possible his inclusion was a last-minute decision, and that there's more content that didn't make it into the retail version.

Another debated topic is whether the Resident Evil Requiem DLC will introduce new gameplay modes. Mercenaries mode was a popular option in Resident Evil 4 that seems suited for the ninth mainline entry. With their combat skills, Leon or Alyssa could shine during this action-focused gameplay.

Golem recently shared that other Capcom horror games are in the works. Code Veronica seems likely to surface in 2027, but Resident Evil 0, 1, and 10 remakes also lurk.
