Seiko has partnered with Tokyo-based fashion retailer Beams to launch the King Seiko SDKA025, a 300-piece limited edition commemorating Beams' 50th anniversary. This exclusive timepiece stands out with its textured black dial featuring a radial stamped pattern that creates dynamic light reflections, paired with gold-toned hands and pyramid-cut indices for enhanced legibility.

The stainless steel case maintains King Seiko's signature angular "KSK" profile inspired by the 1965 King Seiko KSK, housing Seiko's thinnest current automatic movement - the Caliber 6L35. This movement enables the watch's slim 10.7mm profile while operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour. However, the pursuit of thinness involves tradeoffs: the 6L35 offers a 45-hour power reserve, notably shorter than the 70-hour reserve of Seiko's thicker 6R series movements found in standard Presage models.

Priced at 440,000 JPY (approximately $2,774 including tax), the SDKA025 includes exclusive Beams branding on the caseback along with a custom presentation box and travel case. The collaboration's domestic focus means international collectors may face challenges acquiring one, as Seiko confirms distribution will prioritize the Japanese market where both brands maintain strong followings.

Compared to mainstream Presage models like the SRPB41, which retails under $500 with the robust 4R35 movement, the SDKA025 commands a substantial premium. This positions it as a collector's piece rather than an entry-level mechanical watch. The Caliber 6L35's thinner profile does sacrifice some practical utility for elegance - wearers should expect to wind it more frequently than Seiko's workhorse movements.

Collectors should note this release continues Seiko's strategy of using the King Seiko line for high-end collaborations, differing from Grand Seiko in its accessible premium positioning. The SDKA025's combination of angular case geometry, textured dial, and ultra-thin movement creates a distinctive aesthetic that pays homage to both brands' design heritage.

With only 300 units available exclusively through Japanese channels, the SDKA025 will primarily appeal to domestic collectors seeking a wearable commemorative piece. International enthusiasts may need to explore specialized importers, though the premium pricing makes this less practical for those outside Seiko and Beams' core Japanese audience.
