Sony introduces the LinkBuds Clip featuring a secure clip-on design, environmental sound awareness, and AI-enhanced call quality.

Sony has expanded its audio lineup with the launch of the LinkBuds Clip, introducing a distinctive clip-on form factor designed for situational awareness during extended wear. Unlike traditional earbuds that seal the ear canal, these open-ear devices allow users to maintain environmental awareness while listening to audio content.

The design centers around removable fitting cushions that conform to various ear shapes, providing what Sony describes as "all-day stable comfort." Three specialized listening modes adapt to different scenarios: Standard for balanced audio, Voice Boost for enhanced vocal clarity during calls, and Sound Leakage Reduction for minimizing audio spill in quiet environments. The accompanying app includes a 10-band equalizer for personalized sound tuning.

Communication capabilities utilize a bone conduction sensor combined with AI-powered noise reduction, capturing vocal vibrations while suppressing background noise. Sony states this system delivers "excellent call quality" even in noisy environments like public transit or crowded streets.

Battery performance reaches nine hours per charge, extending to 37 hours total with the charging case. The IPX4-rated splash resistance ensures durability during workouts or commutes, while multipoint connectivity enables simultaneous pairing with multiple devices. Quick charging provides an hour of playback from just three minutes of charging.

Available immediately in the US ($229.99) and Canada (CAD $299.99), the LinkBuds Clip come in black, greige, green, and lavender finishes. Customization options include purchasable clip case covers and fitting cushions priced at $24.99 directly from Sony.

This release continues Sony's exploration of open-ear audio solutions following the original LinkBuds, positioning the Clip variant as an alternative to the emerging category of clip-style wearables from competitors like Bose and Oladance. The design prioritizes comfort over extended periods while maintaining audio quality and situational awareness, potentially appealing to urban commuters, office workers needing environmental awareness, and fitness enthusiasts.
