vivo has launched the Y51 Pro 5G in India, featuring a 7,200mAh battery, IP68/IP69 ratings, and MediaTek Dimensity 7360-Turbo chipset.
vivo has launched the Y51 Pro 5G in India, a new addition to its Y-series lineup that succeeds the Y31 Pro 5G from last year. The smartphone comes with several notable features, including a massive 7,200mAh battery, IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance ratings, and the MediaTek Dimensity 7360-Turbo chipset.

The device sports a 6.75-inch LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and HD+ resolution. While the resolution might seem modest by today's standards, the high refresh rate should provide smooth scrolling and responsive touch interactions. The Dimensity 7360-Turbo chipset can be configured with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, offering decent performance for everyday tasks and moderate gaming.
One of the standout features is undoubtedly the 7,200mAh battery, which is significantly larger than what most smartphones offer today. This capacity should easily provide two days of use for most users, or even longer with light usage. The phone supports 44W fast charging, which should help top up the large battery relatively quickly compared to standard charging speeds.
The IP68 and IP69 ratings are particularly noteworthy. While IP68 is common in flagship devices, IP69 is less frequently seen and indicates the phone can withstand high-pressure, high-temperature water jets - making it suitable for more extreme conditions than typical water resistance.
On the camera front, the Y51 Pro 5G features a dual rear camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor paired with a 2MP depth unit. For selfies and video calls, there's an 8MP front-facing camera. The camera configuration suggests this is more of an everyday device rather than a photography-focused smartphone.
Other specifications include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, and dual SIM support. The phone measures 7.8mm in thickness and weighs 219g, which is relatively thick and heavy - likely due to the large battery.
The device runs Android 16-based OriginOS 6 out of the box, giving users access to the latest Android features with vivo's custom interface.
Pricing starts at INR 24,999 ($270) for the 8GB/128GB model, while the 8GB/256GB option is priced at INR 27,999 ($305). The phone is available in Festive Red and Noble Gold colors.
The vivo Y51 Pro 5G appears to be targeting users who prioritize battery life and durability over cutting-edge camera systems or the highest display quality. The combination of a massive battery, high ingress protection ratings, and competitive pricing could make it an attractive option in the mid-range segment, particularly for users who need a phone that can last through extended periods without charging.

This launch continues vivo's strategy of offering feature-rich devices at competitive price points in the Indian market, where battery life and durability are often key purchasing factors for many consumers.
