Overview

Introduced by IBM in 1987, VGA was the standard for PC displays for over two decades. It uses an analog signal, which is susceptible to interference and signal degradation over long cables.

Connector

The iconic 15-pin D-sub connector (DE-15) is still found on some older projectors and industrial equipment, but it has been almost entirely replaced by digital interfaces like HDMI and DisplayPort in the consumer market.
