Following the November 2025 release of the Osmo Action 6, DJI is reportedly preparing to launch a Pro variant, potentially addressing the standard model's unchanged stabilization and battery life compared to its predecessor.
DJI's action camera roadmap appears to be getting more complex. According to recent information from YouTuber Photorabz, the company is preparing to launch an Osmo Action 6 Pro later this year, just months after the standard Osmo Action 6 debuted in November 2025.

The timing is notable. DJI has typically released new Osmo Action cameras in late summer, as seen with the Osmo Action 3, Osmo Action 4, and Osmo Action 5 Pro. Last year's Osmo Action 6 marked a return to an autumn launch schedule, similar to the Action 2. A Pro model arriving in 2026 would represent a significant shift in DJI's product cadence for this line.
The standard Osmo Action 6 currently sells for around $369 on Amazon. It uses the same 1,950 mAh (7.5 Wh/3.87 V) battery as the Osmo Action 5 Pro, delivering approximately 52-53 minutes of official battery life per charge. More critically, DJI's stabilization software has remained unchanged since the Osmo Action 4. These two factors represent the most obvious areas where a Pro variant could differentiate itself.
Action camera buyers typically look for three key improvements: longer battery life, better stabilization, and enhanced low-light performance. The Osmo Action 6's battery life is already competitive, but a Pro model could potentially offer higher capacity cells or more efficient power management. The stabilization question is more pressing—DJI's RockSteady and HorizonSteady systems have been reliable, but competitors like Insta360 have been pushing their FlowState stabilization further with each generation.
For content creators, the distinction between standard and Pro models matters. A Pro variant could justify its price premium through features like:
- Enhanced stabilization algorithms that handle extreme motion better
- Improved thermal management for longer 4K recording sessions
- Higher bitrate video or additional codec options
- Better audio processing with external microphone support
- Increased internal storage or faster write speeds
The timing also suggests DJI is responding to market pressures. The action camera market has seen significant innovation from competitors like GoPro (Hero 13 Black), Insta360 (X4), and even newcomers like Antigravity's A1. A Pro model could help DJI maintain its position in the premium segment while the standard Action 6 serves the mid-range.
DJI's broader product pipeline includes several delayed releases. The successor to the Osmo Pocket 3 was originally rumoured for December but appears to have been overshadowed by the Osmo Pocket 4 Pro. The Avata 360 remains in development as DJI's alternative to Antigravity's A1. The Osmo Action 6 Pro rumour fits into this pattern of DJI expanding its product lines to cover more niches.
For potential buyers, the question becomes whether to wait for the Pro model or purchase the current Osmo Action 6. If the Pro variant offers meaningful improvements in stabilization or battery life, it could be worth the wait. However, if DJI follows typical Pro model patterns, the improvements might be incremental rather than revolutionary.
The Osmo Action 6 Pro rumour remains unconfirmed by DJI. Based on the company's historical release patterns, an official announcement could come in late summer 2026, with availability following shortly after. Until then, the standard Osmo Action 6 remains DJI's current action camera offering, providing solid performance for most users at its $369 price point.
