Huawei has announced the fifth-generation Watch Fit 5 and Watch Fit 5 Pro smartwatches, featuring larger AMOLED displays, advanced health sensors, and improved battery life.
Huawei has unveiled the fifth generation of its Watch Fit series, introducing the Watch Fit 5 and Watch Fit 5 Pro smartwatches at a major launch event that also saw the debut of the Pura X Max foldable, Pura 90 Pro series, and updated Watch Buds 2.

Design and Display Updates
The new Watch Fit 5 series maintains the familiar design language of previous generations while introducing several key improvements. The Watch Fit 5 Pro features slimmer bezels, allowing Huawei to fit a larger 1.92-inch AMOLED touchscreen with 2.5D sapphire glass protection. The display offers an impressive 3,000 nits peak local brightness, making it easily readable even in direct sunlight.
The standard Watch Fit 5 comes with a 1.82-inch AMOLED display with 2,500 nits of brightness. Both models support Always-On Display (AOD) functionality and feature two physical buttons on the right-hand side - a digital crown for navigation and a shortcut button for quick access to features.
Enhanced Health and Fitness Tracking
Both watches in the new series feature updated 6 LED and 6 PPG optical heart rate modules, along with temperature sensors for more accurate health monitoring. The Pro variant adds ECG capabilities and depth sensing, making it more versatile for serious athletes and outdoor enthusiasts.
The Watch Fit 5 Pro is particularly notable for its water resistance certification. While both models are rated at 5 ATM for swimming, the Pro version is certified for freediving at depths up to 40 meters, significantly expanding its use cases for water sports.
Activity Tracking and Connectivity
The watches offer a comprehensive suite of sports modes, with an updated cycling mode that appears similar to the one found on the Watch GT 6 Pro. Both models feature dual-band GNSS positioning for more accurate location tracking, though this feature is currently confirmed only for Chinese versions.
NFC and Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity are included in the Chinese models, with hopes that these features will carry over to international versions. The watches also include an onboard microphone and speaker, plus a new recorder function that allows users to capture voice notes, meetings, or ideas directly from their wrist.
Battery Life and Charging
Huawei claims impressive battery life for both models. With normal usage, users can expect up to 7 days of battery life, while lighter usage patterns could extend this to 10 days. In AOD mode, the battery should last approximately 4 days. The watches charge via a proprietary magnetic puck charger.
Pricing and Availability
The Watch Fit 5 is priced at CNY 1,099 (approximately $161) and comes in purple, green, white, black, and silver color options. The Watch Fit 5 Pro starts at CNY 2,199 (approximately $322) and is available in black, white, and orange colors.
Both models will go on open sale in China starting April 29, 2026. However, Huawei has not yet detailed international availability for these new smartwatches.

The Watch Fit 5 series represents Huawei's continued commitment to the mid-range smartwatch market, offering premium features like large AMOLED displays, advanced health sensors, and long battery life at competitive price points. The addition of features like ECG, depth sensing, and voice recording further blurs the line between fitness trackers and full-featured smartwatches.
For consumers looking for a capable smartwatch with extensive health tracking features without the premium price tag of flagship models, the Watch Fit 5 series appears to offer compelling value, particularly with the Pro model's enhanced durability and advanced health monitoring capabilities.
