The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro will feature the Glyph Matrix rear display, a signature element from the Nothing Phone (3), as the company skips the Phone (4) this year.
Nothing is officially unveiling the Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro at an event in London on March 5. Ahead of that, today the brand shared the teaser you can see below via its official X account. It's pretty clear. The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro will borrow the Nothing Phone (3)'s Glyph Matrix rear display, or will at least have a very similar one, if it's not identical. The Glyph Matrix was, of course, the Phone (3)'s standout feature. Since Nothing has already officially confirmed that there won't be a Phone (4) this year, the Phone (4a) Pro will have to carry the Glyph Matrix torch, since the cheaper Phone (4a) only comes with a Glyph Bar.
Nothing has already shown us the Phone (4a) in both white and pink, and we also saw them alongside the black and blue versions at MWC, but the company has been incredibly shy about teasing the Phone (4a) Pro so far. Anyway, everything will be revealed in just a few hours, so stay tuned.

The Glyph Matrix display represents one of the most distinctive design elements in modern smartphones. First introduced with the Nothing Phone (1), this transparent rear panel features a grid of LED lights that can display notifications, charging status, and custom animations. The feature has become Nothing's signature design language, setting its devices apart in a market dominated by increasingly similar-looking smartphones.
By bringing the Glyph Matrix to the Phone (4a) Pro while limiting the standard Phone (4a) to a simpler Glyph Bar, Nothing is creating a clear differentiation between its two models. The Glyph Bar typically offers a more limited version of the feature, often just a single row of lights for basic notifications and charging indicators, whereas the full Glyph Matrix provides a more elaborate and customizable lighting system.
This strategy makes sense given Nothing's decision to skip the Phone (4) entirely this year. Without a flagship model to showcase the company's most advanced features, the Phone (4a) Pro becomes the premium offering in the lineup. The Glyph Matrix serves as both a practical feature and a visual differentiator that justifies the Pro model's likely higher price point.
For existing Nothing Phone (3) owners, the continuation of the Glyph Matrix suggests software and hardware compatibility for accessories and lighting patterns. The feature has evolved through each generation, with improvements in brightness, customization options, and integration with the Nothing OS software.
The timing of this announcement is interesting, coming just hours before the official launch event. By teasing the Glyph Matrix feature early, Nothing is building anticipation while giving potential buyers a concrete reason to consider the Pro model over the standard version. The company has been gradually revealing details about the Phone (4a) series, showing the standard models in multiple colors but keeping the Pro variant under wraps until now.
As the launch event approaches, more details about the Phone (4a) Pro's specifications, pricing, and availability will likely emerge. The Glyph Matrix confirmation suggests Nothing is maintaining its commitment to distinctive design while potentially offering more refined hardware and software features in the Pro model to justify its premium positioning.
