Oppo expands its budget A-series with the new A6x 5G and A6x 4G, focusing on long-term performance promises and large batteries in the entry-level segment.

Oppo has officially expanded its budget-focused A-series lineup globally with the introduction of the A6x 5G and A6x 4G. These new models join the recently launched A6 and A6s variants, aiming to capture the entry-level market with a focus on battery life, display smoothness, and a promise of sustained performance over time.

Oppo A6x 5G: Dimensity Power and a Big Screen

The A6x 5G is the more capable of the two, featuring a large 6.75-inch LCD display. The screen runs at a 720x1570 resolution, which is standard for this price bracket, but it gains a significant advantage with its 120Hz refresh rate. This high refresh rate should make scrolling through social media and navigating the UI feel noticeably smoother compared to typical 60Hz budget phones. The panel also boasts a peak brightness of 1,125 nits, which should provide good visibility in direct sunlight.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC. This chipset is a reliable workhorse for 5G connectivity and daily tasks, offering solid performance for messaging, light gaming, and video streaming. It's paired with a versatile range of memory options, from 4GB to 8GB of RAM and 128GB to 256GB of storage, giving users flexibility based on their needs and budget.

For photography, the A6x 5G sports a dual-camera setup on the back. The main sensor is a 50MP shooter, which is capable of capturing detailed photos in good lighting conditions. It's accompanied by a 2MP monochrome sensor, which primarily serves to add depth information for portrait shots. On the front, a 5MP selfie camera handles video calls and self-portraits.

The standout feature, however, is the massive 6,500 mAh battery. This large capacity is designed to easily last through a full day of heavy use and potentially stretch into a second day for lighter users. It will be available in two distinctive colorways: Plum Purple and Violet Purple.

Oppo A6x 4G: A Capable 4G Alternative

For markets or users where 5G is not yet a priority, the A6x 4G offers a similar experience on a 4G network. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 processor, a chip well-regarded for its efficiency and capable performance in the 4G space.

The display is the same 6.75-inch 720x1570 LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate, so the visual experience remains consistent between the 5G and 4G models. The camera system is where the primary difference lies. It features a 13MP main rear camera and a QVGA decorative monochrome sensor. The front-facing camera is also a 5MP unit. The A6x 4G comes in Ice Blue and Plum Purple color options.

In terms of storage, the 4G model offers an additional entry-level option with a 4/64GB variant, while the top-tier 8/256GB configuration is not available for this model.

Shared Features: Durability and Software

Both phones share the exact same physical dimensions (166.61 x 78.51 x 8.61mm) and are nearly identical in weight, with the 5G model being slightly heavier at 212g compared to the 4G model's 210g.

A key selling point for both devices is their durability. They carry an IP64 rating, certifying protection against dust ingress and resistance to water splashes from any direction. More importantly, Oppo is promising that both phones will maintain smooth performance for 48 months, equivalent to four years of use. This claim is backed by software optimizations in ColorOS 15, which is based on the latest Android 15. This focus on long-term usability is a significant consideration for budget-conscious buyers who intend to keep their phones for several years.

As of now, Oppo has not announced official pricing or specific release dates for the A6x 5G and A6x 4G. The global rollout suggests they will be available in various markets soon, likely targeting regions where budget 5G adoption is growing.
