Oppo's latest smartwatch combines aerospace-grade materials with advanced health monitoring features including continuous glucose tracking and hypertension risk assessment.
Oppo has unveiled its latest flagship smartwatch, the Watch X3, bringing significant upgrades in both design and health monitoring capabilities. The circular wearable maintains the premium positioning of its predecessor while introducing new materials and sensors that push the boundaries of what's possible in a consumer smartwatch.

The Watch X3 represents a comprehensive redesign from the Watch X2, with Oppo focusing on both durability and weight reduction. The watch body is constructed from TC4 titanium alloy, a material commonly used in aerospace applications and medical implants due to its exceptional corrosion resistance and biocompatibility. This choice of material not only enhances durability but also contributes to the watch's reduced weight profile.
Design and Build Quality The most noticeable change is the slimmer profile. Oppo claims the Watch X3 is 16% lighter and 6.4% thinner than its predecessor, with specific measurements showing a diameter of 47.4mm and thickness of 11.0mm. The weight has been reduced to 43g, down from 49.7g on the Watch X2. These improvements were achieved without compromising battery capacity, as the 646mAh cell remains effectively the same size as last year's model.
The display represents another significant upgrade, featuring a 1.5" LTPO OLED panel with 466 x 466px resolution. While maintaining the same resolution as the previous generation, the new display achieves a 36% increase in brightness, reaching a peak of 3,000 nits compared to 2,200 nits previously. The screen is protected by sapphire glass with a Mohs hardness rating of "8+" (sapphire typically rates at 9), providing excellent scratch resistance.
Oppo has also redesigned the watch strap system, introducing "bamboo joints" - metal connectors between segments of fluororubber that create a distinctive aesthetic while potentially improving durability. Three color variants are available: Global Star Orange, Gravity Black, and Infinite Titanium. The Gravity Black version uses a standard fluororubber strap and is priced slightly lower than the other two variants.
Health Monitoring Capabilities The Watch X3's most significant advancement lies in its expanded health monitoring suite. The standout feature is continuous glucose monitoring, which provides real-time readings and can alert users to any anomalies. This functionality represents a major step forward for consumer wearables, though the accuracy and reliability of wrist-based glucose monitoring remain subjects of ongoing research and development.
Blood pressure monitoring has also been enhanced, with the watch now capable of assessing hypertension risk. This builds upon existing features like ECG, vascular health readings, heart rate and blood-oxygen tracking, sleep quality assessment with sleep apnea detection, and a wrist temperature sensor. The comprehensive sensor suite positions the Watch X3 as a serious health monitoring device rather than just a fitness tracker.
Sports and Fitness Features For active users, the Watch X3 offers presets for over 100 sports activities. Advanced metrics include VO2 Max measurement, lactate threshold detection, recovery time estimation, aerobic training effect analysis, and heart rate recovery rate tracking. An AI coach provides personalized guidance based on these metrics. The watch's positioning capabilities are robust, featuring dual-band GPS (L1+L5) along with support for BeiDou, Galileo, and GLONASS satellite systems for accurate outdoor exercise tracking.
Connectivity and Performance The Watch X3 offers comprehensive connectivity options including 4G via eSIM, dual-band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.2. NFC support is included for access cards and public transport, though specific NFC capabilities for the global version are yet to be confirmed. The watch is powered by the Snapdragon W5 chipset, though it's unclear whether this refers to the original W5 or the newer W5 Gen 2 variant.
Battery life remains competitive, with 3 days of heavy use, 5 days of normal operation, and up to 16 days in battery saver mode. The 7.5W charging system can fully charge the watch in 75 minutes, with a 10-minute charge providing enough power for 24 hours of use.
Durability and Water Resistance The Watch X3 maintains impressive durability ratings despite its slimmer profile. It's rated for 5ATM water resistance, has an IP68 rating for dust and water protection, and now includes an IP69 rating for protection against high-pressure water jets. This makes the watch suitable for swimming, showering, and other water-based activities.
Pricing and Availability The Oppo Watch X3 is currently available for pre-order in China through Oppo's online store. Pricing starts at CNY 2,600 (approximately $360) for the Gravity Black variant during the early bird period, with the other color options priced at CNY 2,800 (approximately $390). Early bird discounts bring these prices down to CNY 2,210 and CNY 2,380 respectively. Open sales are scheduled to begin on March 20th.
While the watch is currently available only in China, details on global availability are expected to follow. The comprehensive feature set and competitive pricing position the Watch X3 as a strong contender in the premium smartwatch segment, particularly for users prioritizing advanced health monitoring capabilities.
