Indie visual novel Take a Hint launches on Steam with perfect early reviews, offering a powerful 15-20 minute story about toxic relationships that runs on any PC.
The indie development duo Floramisu and Byutaki, under the publisher Skull Queens Games, launched the free-to-play visual novel Take a Hint on March 2, 2026. The game was originally created for the Women's Game Jam 2023 in Argentina, and now, the title has been polished for a wider digital release on the Steam storefront.
Despite its extremely short duration, the game has already garnered a small but dedicated following - a perfect "Positive" rating across all its initial user reviews.
Key specs and data
Take a Hint is essentially designed to be a short narrative experience with very low technical requirements.
- Playtime: Approximately 15-20 minutes
- Storage: Requires only 200 MB of available space
- Accessibility: Includes adjustable text sizes, subtitle options, and is playable at the player's own pace without Quick Time Events
- Hardware: Runs on legacy systems (Windows 7) up to Windows 10, needing only 2 GB of RAM
The narrative is based on Delfina, who is determined to convince her best friend Ailén that her current boyfriend is harmful. The game uses a "closed-room" style tension, where neither character leaves until the truth is accepted. Because it deals with heavy themes like infidelity and toxic relationship dynamics, the developers have included clear content warnings for players.

The micro-narrative trend
The game's little (yet solid) success in its first 24 hours shows that there is a growing appetite for "micro-narratives" - games that can be completed in a single sitting, but are make a mental impact on the player via strong writing. By giving away the title for no cost, the devs are most likely using Steam as a portfolio-building tool. The visibility of an extremely positive rating should help the developers build a community for future, larger-scale projects.
If you have 20 minutes on hand and an interest in character-driven drama, Take a Hint is a must-try. Its minimal system requirements (and the free-to-play status) should make it great for almost any PC or laptop. You can read more about it here.
