After months of regional launches, Xiaomi's latest mid-range lineup is now available across Europe, bringing silicon-carbon battery technology and advanced camera sensors to the mainstream market.

Xiaomi has officially begun the European rollout of its Redmi Note 15 series, marking the culmination of a staggered global launch that began in China last year and reached India shortly after. The five-model lineup, now available through Xiaomi's European channels, represents a significant push in durability and battery technology for the mid-range segment.

The Battery Breakthrough: SiC Arrives in the Mid-Range

The most notable advancement in this generation is the introduction of silicon-carbon (SiC) batteries to the Redmi Note family. The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ and 15 Pro both feature 6,500mAh batteries with 10% SiC content, a technology previously reserved for flagship devices. This material allows for higher energy density compared to traditional graphite anodes, enabling larger capacities without increasing physical size.

Xiaomi pairs these batteries with its 100W HyperCharge system and 22.5W reverse charging capabilities. More importantly, the company includes its Surge battery chip across all Pro models (including the 4G variant), which claims to maintain at least 80% of the original battery capacity after 1,600 charge cycles—equivalent to approximately six years of typical use.

The standard Redmi Note 15 also benefits from this technology, housing a 5,520mAh SiC battery in a remarkably slim 7.35mm profile. Its 4G sibling, while thicker at 7.9mm, compensates with a larger 6,000mAh battery.

Camera System: 200MP Sensors with Advanced Processing

Both the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ and 15 Pro debut Xiaomi's new 200MP HPE (High Pixel Efficiency) sensors, measuring 1/1.4" in size. These sensors support 2x and 4x in-sensor zoom, DAG HDR (Digital and Analog Hybrid High Dynamic Range), and advanced AI processing for improved low-light performance and detail retention.

The standard Redmi Note 15 and its 4G variant feature 108MP cameras with 3x in-sensor zoom, while the Redmi Note 15 Pro 4G uses a 200MP sensor that appears to be an older generation compared to the HPE sensors in the 5G models.

Durability: The "Titan" Approach

Xiaomi's "Redmi Titan Durability" philosophy permeates the entire series. The Pro+ and Pro models feature reinforced mid-frames, multi-layer shock absorption systems, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, and high-strength motherboards. The Pro+ adds a fiberglass back panel for additional impact absorption.

Durability testing claims include drop resistance from 2.5-meter heights, with the Pro+ achieving the most comprehensive water resistance ratings: IP66 (splash resistance), IP68 (submersion up to 2 meters for 24 hours), IP69 (high-pressure water jets), and IP69K (hot water jets).

The non-Pro models also receive enhanced dust and water resistance, though not at the same level as the flagship variants.

Display and Processing Power

The Pro+ and Pro 5G models feature 6.83" OLED displays, powered respectively by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 and MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra chipsets. The standard models and 4G variants share a 6.77" display, with processing handled by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 and Helio G100 Ultra chips.

Pricing and Availability

European pricing varies by configuration and region. The entry-level Redmi Note 15 4G starts at €250 (6/128GB), while the flagship Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G reaches €520 for the 12/512GB configuration. Early bird discounts and trade-in bonuses are available through Xiaomi's European channels, with specific offers varying by country.

Ecosystem Considerations

This launch continues Xiaomi's strategy of offering multiple variants within a single generation, including 4G models for markets where 5G adoption remains limited. The approach allows Xiaomi to maintain competitive pricing while offering advanced features like SiC batteries and high-resolution cameras across different price points.

For consumers, the choice between models involves balancing camera capabilities, battery life, durability features, and connectivity needs. The Pro+ model represents the most complete package with the best battery technology, camera system, and durability ratings, while the 4G models provide access to core features at lower price points.

European availability is now live through Xiaomi's official channels, with reviews for the Pro 5G and Pro+ models already available, and reviews for the remaining three models in progress.
